Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre Suzuki School
Maya began her studies at The Royal Conservatory of Music at age 5. A student of Clara Shranz-Odynski, she studied as a student of the Suzuki Method, traditional RCM and Americana Fiddle. Following Clara’s departure from the Royal Conservatory, she continued her studies at the Toronto Children’s Institute for Music and the Arts. This move lead to performances across Canada and regular features with local orchestras alongside her classmates. In 1993 the school’s senior students were invited to perform at the International Suzuki Conference in Dublin Ireland. In addition to maintaining her training in Classical Violin, Maya also studied and competed in Americana, Celtic and Old Time Fiddle competitions throughout New England and Ontario. After graduating from Toronto’s Humber College as the first dual Voice and Violin Performance major, she began her Suzuki Teacher training under Paule Barsalou. She then began teaching at The Miles Nadal JCC Suzuki School in 2006. Maya continues to perform around the world as a violinist, vocalist and DJ while maintaining a private studio in Toronto, ON. She continues to teach group classes, chamber ensembles and reading at the JCC Suzuki School in both their year round program and their Summer Institute.
