We are proud to announce the return of the SAO Planting the Seed: Growing the Suzuki Triangle online event series. This 4-part series is for Suzuki families and teachers. Each session engages participants in a presentation and discussion about elements of the Suzuki philosophy and practical strategies to support families on their Suzuki journey.
Summer 2023 – Area Reports
416 Jennifer Martyn - 416 Area Representative The North York Suzuki School of Music has had a busy spring with many fun and inspiring events for our students. In addition to our traditional year-end concerts, piano students participated in a ukulele workshop with teachers from the Doane Music School, and string students enjoyed an improvisation workshop led by our own Elena Spanu and Jeanine Noyes. Many of our students also performed solos and chamber music in a fair at Denlow Public School, where they were able to share their music with children and their families from the community. Bao Huyen
Metamorphosis: SAO Newsletter
Starting in Fall 2023, the SAO newsletter will be transforming! As part of the SAO Strategic Planning conversations, the Board has put together a plan to streamline the SAO newsletter format and make use of the enhanced features available to us in the new SAO website. The newsletter will now be published 8 times per year. This will allow upcoming events to be shared with the membership in a more timely fashion. SAO Board: Volunteers Needed
The SAO Board is seeking volunteers! We are looking for volunteers who can commit a few hours a month to supporting our growing Suzuki community in Ontario. Term length is 2 years. Board members will attend 3 meetings per year and are required to sit on board subcommittees such as newsletter, website, recruitment and retention, etc., to assist with important board work; they are also encouraged to attend SAO events. All new board members will receive non-profit board governance training. There are currently 3 vacancies on the SAO Board of Directors: 519 Area Representative
Planting the Seed: Replay
In September 2022, the SAO launched a new series of online events. This 4-part series, called Planting the Seed: Growing the Suzuki Triangle addressed many aspects of the Suzuki music experience from understanding the process of learning to practical home practice ideas.
