Dear SAO Members,
As I sit in my studio, I feel a great comfort in the familiarity of my bookshelves and music piles. Somehow this year feels just a little bit better, or perhaps just a little different, than the last. While there are still so many unanswered questions about what the fall will bring, I am comforted by the knowledge that we have all been in a similar place before. This year, we all have experience teaching through online platforms and perhaps in a hybrid style. This experience can only help us as we continue our work with every child and family in our studios. I hope each of you will take a moment to reflect on all the experiences of the past year and appreciate the hard work, creativity and new skills that have brought you to this point in time. As the new teaching year begins, I hope you will all draw strength and inspiration from these past experiences.
Looking for more inspiration? Come join us for the Come Together: Online Conference in November. We are looking forward to welcoming an amazing collection of clinicians to this online event. Please encourage your students to join the fun on student day too!
While we all spend time getting ready to start the teaching year, I leave you with a thought from Dr. Suzuki: “Without stopping, without haste, carefully taking a step at a time forward will surely get you there.”
Wishing all of you a safe and musical start to the year!
Debbie Hammond, Chair
